BFT Home emerges from Bharat Floorings' 90-year legacy, reimagined for lifestyle and daily rituals.
The concept for BFT Home is to extend the ethos, values, and visual language of Bharat Floorings (BFT) into a thoughtfully designed homeware and lifestyle line. BFT has long stood for craft, quality, and material integrity—built over nearly a century of tile and flooring innovation. The objective was to translate that legacy into objects for daily living without losing authenticity. As part of this extension, we collaborated closely with VISHH and artisan partners across India. Together, we explored processes like block printing, marble engraving, and other regional craft techniques, and used BFT's signature patterns and design aesthetics as a foundational vocabulary. Through co-creation, artisans contributed their cultural voices, making each product a collaboration between tradition and contemporary design. We began with a workshop process to establish the purpose, design drivers, and positioning of BFT Home. Visual guidelines, pattern systems, and material monikers were defined to ensure coherence across product lines. The identity system supports expansion—whether ceramic accessories, textiles, or sculptural objects—and maintains a connection to BFT's parent brand without redundancy. The product line has already launched with pieces like candles from the Kokeshi collection and the playful Terrapop series, each rooted in craft sensibilities and a modern aesthetic. The brand positions itself not as a lifestyle fad but as a tactile extension of BFT's design legacy—bringing poetic subtlety, material honesty, and cultural resonance into homeware. This new category under BFT becomes a bridge—an invitation for users to carry the brand's material memory into personal spaces, connecting heritage with purposeful design for everyday life.
